Los Pumas 7’s had a disappointing series of results at the 2026 Singapore Sevens. Argentina finished the tournament in seventh position, closing out their campaign with a 14-10 victory over Great Britain. The victory meant Santiago Goméz Cora’s players secured one victory at the tournament.

Argentina opened against Australia. They paid the ultimate price for a sloppy start as Australia went out to a 19-0 lead. Argentina fought back to be 19-14 down and had an opportunity to win the match; however, a controversial decision penalized Argentina despite images showing that Australia’s player in the ruck was not supporting his body weight.

Game two saw Argentina falling 26-20 against New Zealand. The match was also decided at the death. This time, New Zealand scored with time up to claim victory. Notwithstanding, Argentina only had themselves to blame as none of the tries scored by Santino Zangara, Santiago Vera Feld, Marcos Moneta and Eliseo Morales were converted.

Los Pumas 7’s also lost their final pool match. France were 19-15 winners thanks to a try in the final play of the contest. The outcome meant Argentina faced Spain in a 5th Place Semi Final. Los Leones 7’s dominated proceedings as they won 26-12.

Argentina finished the tournament with a battle against Great Britain. Argentina’s 14-10 win meant the South Americans avoided bottom spot.
