It wasn’t all bad news for Alabama women’s basketball in Week 13 of the 2025-26 season.
That may seem a bit generous after Alabama suffered a 103-63 blowout loss in Baton Rouge to coach Kim Mulkey’s LSU Tigers on Sunday, but three days earlier the Crimson Tide went on the road to pick up a quality top 25 win over the Georgia Bulldogs, 68-53.
In Alabama’s win over Georgia on Thursday in Athens, Essence Cody led all scorers with 16 points as the Crimson Tide made 55 percent of their shots, including eight-of-17 from 3-point range. Ta’Mia Scott added 13 points, Karly Weathers had 11, and Jessica Timmons finished with 10.
Alabama’s hot shooting was nowhere to be found on Sunday as the Crimson Tide suffered their most lopsided defeat of the season against a top-5 LSU program. The Tide made just 34 percent of their shots and fell behind 49-29 at halftime.
The Tigers, who lost to Alabama last year at Coleman Coliseum, made sure a repeat didn’t happen Sunday as four players finished in double figures. Jada Richard’s game-high 16 points led LSU. Timmons led Alabama with 15 points.
The loss to LSU ended a two-game Alabama winning streak. The Crimson Tide sit at 19-4 overall and 5-4 in SEC play following a 14-0 start to the season that included an upset win over then-No. 9 Kentucky on Jan. 8.
