Alabama women’s basketball rankings update following 1-1 week in SEC play

by

Alabama women’s basketball has fallen in the rankings after a 40-point loss Sunday to LSU.

In the latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll on Tuesday, Feb. 3, the Crimson Tide (19-4, 5-4 SEC) found themselves at No. 23, staying in the rankings despite the loss. The Crimson Tide earned 133 points in the poll, still gaining 12 points as they went 1-1 on the week, with a win over then-No. 25 Georgia on Thursday.

The Crimson Tide hosts No. 14 Ole Miss on Thursday at 8 p.m. at Coleman Coliseum. The game will air on SEC Network. On Sunday, Alabama will travel to Texas A&M for a 5 p.m. tipoff on SEC Network.

The Crimson Tide started the year 14-0 and reeled off three SEC wins in a row following a loss to South Carolina. The middle victory in that streak was over then No. 6 Kentucky, which fell to No. 9. Now the Crimson Tide finds themselves on a two-game skid.

The Crimson Tide entered the poll Dec. 9 at No. 25 before moving up to No. 24 in the Dec. 16 poll. Alabama had been earning votes in the poll since the preseason poll was released on Oct. 23.
