The Michigan football coaching carousel appeared to be complete with the hiring of Kyle Whittingham, who brought a bunch of new coaches from Utah and BYU (and elsewhere), but he also retained two — running backs coach Tony Alford and defensive line coach Lou Esposito.
Everything appeared to be set in anticipation of spring ball, which will begin on March 17, but with the NFL coaching carousel having continued to shift and convolve, there has yet been more movement, and it affects the maize and blue.

Newly hired to oversee the Baltimore Ravens, former Michigan defensive coordinator Jesse Minter has decided to pilfer his former job, having plucked Esposito to oversee the Ravens defensive line, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.
Minter and Esposito did not have crossover in Ann Arbor, but it speaks to Esposito’s ability that he’s moving on to the NFL.
It would not be a surprise to see Whittingham give defensive end coach Lewis Powell more responsibility over the whole line as a result, as he was expected to handle the edge position while Esposito oversaw the tackles on the interior.
