The T20 World Cup 2026 will be underway in a couple of days. The teams have geared up to deliver an exciting one month of T20 cricket to win the most prestigious T20 trophy in international cricket. Ahead of the competition, Harry Brook, alongside the other first batch of captains, has joined the World Cup Captains’ Press Conference in Mumbai.
Along with Harry Brook, West Indies captain Shai Hope, Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan, and Nepal captain Rohit Paudel have been on the list. England is one of the favourites to win the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. They are a formidable side with amazing cricketers, and have the experience of playing in India as well.
England is looking to change its fortunes
Though their last white-ball outing in the major ICC tournament in India did not go as planned. However, this is a different format, and the three lions have the firepower from top to bottom to excel in the shortest format of the game. New captain Harry Brook will also have a challenge, as this will be his first time captaining in an ICC event.

Harry Brook was asked about the ongoing dilemma in the India vs Pakistan match. As the latter has decided not to feature against the defending champions in solidarity for Bangladesh, who have been removed from the T20 World Cup after their request to change the venue from India to Sri Lanka was not accepted.
Brook, replying to the question, said, “We just stay in our lane. It’s upto the ICC to decide who’s playing or not. It’s above our pay grade. Dew could be a factor in some areas. You want to factor in the dew and the approach.”
Harry Brook is confident England can win the T20 World Cup
Harry Brook feels that the team will decide one game at a time and is confident that they can make it to the final and win the trophy.
While speaking ahead of the competition at the press conference. Harry Brook said, on being asked about their chances of winning the silverware. He said, “We want to take it game by game. We are confident and want to go all the way.”
England target 300 runs
In the game of T20, even 200+ scores are not safe, and teams have even gone on to score 300 runs in some matches, with England becoming the first nation to score 300+ runs against South Africa in a full member nation game. On being asked if 300 runs is possible in India, Brook feels it is possible.
Brook said, “300 is a real possibility in India. We want to take the bowlers as much as we can. You want to stay as cool as possible.” Brook also sent good luck to the U-19 England team which will be taking the field against India on Friday. The England captain said, “Massive good luck to the Under-19 boys for the final. We’ll watching and cheering them on. It’ll be lovely to see them beat India.”
