Texas A&M freshman 5-star CB praises new Texas A&M cornerbacks coach

by

On Thursday, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko officially elevated nickels coach Bryant Gross-Armiento, better known as “BGA,” as the program’s new cornerbacks coach ahead of the 2026 season, as the 32-year-old rising star in the coaching ranks is one of five staff elevations, headlined by new offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins, and defensive coordinator Lyle Hemphill.

After finishing 11-2 paired with Texas A&M’s first appearance in the College Football Playoff, the Aggies look to improve upon last season’s results, and while some in the Aggie fan base aren’t extremely enthusiastic about the staff elevations, this is a sign that the program is in a good place, bringing back the coaches that that contributed to this success.

However, new assistant head coach and defensive line coach Elijah Robinson is officially back with the program after his short stint at Syracuse, and, paired with new linebackers coach Travis Williams, Elko is expected to hire Stanford DB coach Paul Williams, who has developed 11 current NFL defensive backs.

With all this experience, Gross-Armiento is the name to watch from a development standpoint, as we will now coach a veteran cornerback rotation, which now features incoming five-star freshman Brandon Arrington, who BGA helped recruit along with former CB coach turned K-State defensive coordinator Jordan Peterson.

Already one of Texas A&M’s top recruiters, Gross-Armiento received substantial praise from Brandon Arrington, who spoke with AggieYell insider Jaxson Callaway, and is excited to learn and grow under the first-year CB coach.

“When it’s all said and done, he’s going to be one of the greatest.”

Continuity is everything for Mike Elko, who has worked with Gross-Armento for nearly ten seasons, while former head coach Jimbo Fisher continued to promote BGA during the final years of his six-year tenure.
