Super Bowl Sunday is officially here! This year’s Super Bowl matchup between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks features four former USC players: Sam Darnold, Leonard Williams, Uchenna Nwosu, and Brandon Pili.
Williams, a former All-American defensive lineman at USC, is set to play in his first Super Bowl after 11 years in the league. On Saturday, Ed Orgeron, who coached USC’s defensive line during Williams’ tenure with the Trojans, shared a message for him on social media.

“Big Cat Leonard Williams!” Orgeron said. “It’s Coach O, man, how you doing? Congratulations, man, on making it to the Super Bowl.
“I’ve followed you, I’ve watched you, you’ve developed. You came from the land Florida, you trusted us. You came to USC, it was a great school, they love you.
“Now you’re playing in the Super Bowl. Remember your fundamentals tomorrow, man . . . get off on that football, and get there in a bad mood. Go Hawks.”
Orgeron is best known for his tenure as the head coach at LSU, where he won a national championship in 2019. However, USC fans will always appreciate him for his time as an assistant and interim head coach of the Trojans, where he also had significant success. Orgeron had numerous great defensive linemen during his two stints at USC, but perhaps none were as dominant as Williams, who on Sunday will play for his first career Super Bowl championship.
