Texas A&M’s 86-67 home loss to Florida dropped the Aggies to 17-6 and 7-3 in SEC play, and they have now lost two consecutive games for just the second time all season. Looking miserable from the field in the first half, first-year head coach Bucky McMillan assured the Aggie fanbase that this performance won’t be repeated.
While we won’t know if Saturday’s loss will affect the Aggies until Wednesday’s home game vs. Missouri, Texas A&M’s ability to reset and flush out poor performances has been notable this season, and given the program’s postseason implications, winning every remaining home game becomes crucial, knowing that an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament remains on the line.

After dropping four spots to No. 40 in the NET rankings, Texas A&M is in the game position it was before defeating Georgia on the road, and, in golf terms, has received a mulligan to get back on track and once again look like the team that started 7-1 in conference play before the schedule reached its brutal stretch.
It’s important to note that Texas A&M’s roster lacks substantial size, and while a better shooting performance would have made it a closer game, Florida’s NBA-level front court took full advantage of the Aggies’ struggles, despite A&M playing well enough on defense to keep things relatively close in the first half.
Around the rest of the SEC, Alabama squeaked out a 96-92 road win over Auburn, while Oklahoma’s major road upset over Vanderbilt gave the Sooners their second win in SEC play. Florida looks like the best team in the conference, and is certainly playing like a team that could make it back to the Final Four.
