India, the defending champion and co-host of the ongoing T20 World Cup, started off their campaign with a win over the USA cricket team. The victory did not come in the smoothest way, but at the end of the day, it was the Men in Blue who had the last laugh.
Team India paid a visit to Gautam Gambhir’s house in Delhi
The Suryakumar Yadav-led team played their opening match of the tournament on February 7, on the opening day of the competition. Their next assignment will be on February 12, against Namibia, where fans will be expecting to see the home team grab the second consecutive win with ease.

Ahead of the Namibia match, the team is getting a significant amount of time to refresh their mind and body. In the meantime, it is the duty of the coach and the coaching staff to monitor the players’ schedule to keep the focus right on the track. For the Indian cricket team, the target is clear—defend the title and create history. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the Men in Blue upheld the prestigious trophy in the previous edition of the tournament, which was the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
Why Gautam Gambhir took the initiative?
On Sunday evening (February 8), the Indian cricket team players and staff were spotted at Gautam Gambhir’s house in Delhi. The upcoming match against will be arranged at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, so the entire team is in the capital state of the nation. While the team members were coming down from the team bus, their head coach was waiting on the roadside with his family to greet each member of the squad.

The initiative Gambhir took is nothing new. He did this before to maintain the bond between the players, as well as with the back office members. After all the arrangements, Indian cricket fans will be in the hope to see their favorite team in scorching form from the very next match.
A struggling victory against the USA
Against the United States of America, Team India was far from their best performance. It was only the skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, who remained tall against the opposing bowlers. Yadav’s unbeaten 84 was the defining moment of the match. As India had to confront an unexpected batting collapse, the first innings of the match turned into the ‘SKY show.
The USA couldn’t match the class with the Indian bowling line-up and lost the momentum in the second innings. In reply to India’s first innings of 161, the USA could claim 132/8 and allowed the defending champion to win the match by 29 runs.
