FSU women’s basketball routs its rival Miami in dominant ACC rematch

by

Florida State women’s basketball made sure this rematch looked nothing like the first meeting.

A month after being routed by Miami (12-12, 4-9) in Coral Gables, the Seminoles turned the tables Sunday, rolling past the Hurricanes 87-70 at the Donald L. Tucker Center hours before the Super Bowl.

FSU snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 8-16 overall and 3-9 in the Atlantic Coast Conference with one of its most complete performances of the season.

The Seminoles shot 52% from the field (33 of 64), knocked down 10 3-pointers and controlled the game on both ends. Sophomore Tatum Greene led FSU with 22 points and seven rebounds, shooting 9 of 12 from the floor.

Sole Williams added 14 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Seminoles.

After a low-scoring first quarter, FSU took control by outscoring Miami 55-34 over the second and third quarters. The Hurricanes made a push in the fourth, using a 16-6 run to trim the deficit to 12 with under five minutes remaining.
