Michael Vaughan wants an India vs Pakistan Test series: The India vs Pakistan 2026 T20 World Cup match is finally on the cards, after Pakistan finally agreed to make a U-Turn of their decision to boycott the match against their fiercest rivals, on 15th February. The Pakistan Cricket Board, after a lengthy discussion with the International Cricket Council (ICC), had made its decision to withdraw its stance.
PCB demanded three conditions in front of the apex body of the India vs Pakistan bilateral series, a tri-nation series with Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. However, these decision does not stand with ICC as they rejected these demands. After this, the ICC gave PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi a day to consult Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and confirm the board’s stance.
Pakistan change their stance
In reply, the Pakistan government changed its decision to boycott the game. They released a statement that mentioned that the Government of Pakistan has provided the green signal that their national cricket team will take the field on February 15, 2026, at the R Premedasa Stadium, Colombo.
Your daily dose of cricket!
The PCB made five demands, which included Pakistan’s request that Bangladesh not be fined for withdrawing from the T20 World Cup. The ICC was requested to grant Bangladesh a compensation global tournament after last year’s Women’s T20 World Cup was relocated from the country to Dubai owing to social turmoil.
An Under-19 World Cup for the following cycle was offered as an alternative. Among those five, only these two demands were met by the ICC, and the remaining three were rejected.
Michael Vaughan demands a unique India vs Pakistan series
After the row, former England captain Michael Vaughan shared his views on the three-week controversy that happened. He believes that it is great news for world cricket as the controversy has ended. Michael Vaughan also wants India and Pakistan to play a three-match Test series in England.
While sharing, Michael Vaughan said, via X (formerly, Twitter), “It’s great for the comp and cricket. We need them to somehow play a Test series soon as well. The UK would be a great place to host a 3-match series.”

India vs Pakistan Test match on cards?
India and Pakistan have not played a Test series since 2007. The last Test that was played between the two nations was at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, on December 8th, 2007. The result of the match was a draw. India won the Test Series against their arch-rivals 1-0. If a Test series happens between the sides, it would be a treat to watch with them in whites.
Bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj up against the likes of Babar Azam and Salman Ali Agha with the red ball in hand, it will be altogether a different game. Pakistan previously used England as its home ground due to security concerns in the country.
However, Michael Vaughan’s demand for the Test series looks far from taking place as both nations have not played a bilateral series for more than a decade now. Their last bilateral series was back in 2013 when Pakistan travelled to India.
