The Chargers have been steadily hiring new offensive coaches over the past two weeks and on Tuesday it was reported that they’re adding a new name on the defensive staff.
Per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the Bolts are hiring Rutgers outside linebackers coach Julian Campenni as their new assistant defensive line coach. He has spent the past two seasons with the Scarlet Knights and the prior five seasons at Bowling Green.
Campenni is a former defensive lineman at UConn who played in 47 career games with 38 starts. He was named a team captain and was a Second-Team All-CUSA pick in 2015. After his playing career, Campenni began coaching at the high school level in Pennsylvania before going to be a graduate assistant at Boston College.
