Sofo is expected to be out for a couple of weeks, amNewYork’s Joe Pantorno reported.

It’s unclear how the injury could impact his spot on the roster this season after a busy offseason for the Red Bulls front office that also included a number of changes to the group on the field.

Sofo had missed a supporters’ event hosted by Red Bull New York before the club left for Texas to wrap up the preseason, according to Red Bulls reporter Daniel Rebain.

The 21-year-old joined the RBNY first team last year after an injury to Lewis Morgan — who was traded to San Diego in December — and recorded eight goals in 30 matches across all competitions.

Sofo had shown flashes of potential and even scored the first goal of the season in his first career MLS start, a 2-0 win over Nashville SC.

Nevertheless, the inconsistencies hurt him, and he went without a goal over his final 16 contests of the 2025 campaign.

Under the leadership of head of sport Julian de Guzman and new head coach — and U.S. Men’s National Team great — Michael Bradley, the Red Bulls have undergone a massive offseason of change that included bringing in Cade Cowell and Jorge Ruvalcaba, while watching some stalwarts depart.

Red Bull New York also announced Tuesday that it loaned forward Wiktor Bogacz to Polish club KS Cracovia for one year with an option to purchase his contract.
