Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton just recently signed a new contract to stay with the Bulldogs, according to On3’s Pete Nakos, so he’ll be returning to quarterback Georgia for the foreseeable future. However, according to his agent, Stockton left a lot of money on the table.
“Gunner did agree to a deal with UGA for the 2026 season,” his agent, Faryn Healyof ESM, told On3’s Pete Nakos. “He did not feel an announcement was necessary as he is a player who would never consider transferring. He could have earned two to three times more by entering the portal, but Gunner bleeds red and black.

“He wanted UGA to have the budget to retain and acquire the talent for the roster needed to compete for another championship. Gunner doesn’t play football at UGA for money. Leading that team is his lifelong dream.”
It was not disclosed exactly how much Stockton will make for the 2026 college football season, but several transfer quarterbacks are expected to make multiple millions.
Stockton led the Bulldogs to an 12-2 record and SEC championship victory. He finished top 10 in Heisman voting, with Georgia winning games against Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Texas almost solely due to him.
It’s a very different attitude from the previous Georgia starter. Carson Beck was in a rough situation in 2024, with Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey going to the 2024 NFL draft, but he struggled in 2024, leading the SEC in interceptions and tearing his UCL in Georgia’s SEC championship win over Texas, which led the way for the Stockton era.

As a result, Beck transferred to the Miami Hurricanes, where he earned a massive NIL payout, played in a weaker conference, and had diminished responsibilities on the offense. Miami used incredible line play and an amazing group of skill positions (Mark Fletcher Jr., C.J. Daniels, Malachi Toney) to make it to the national championship. With Gunner Stockton never having a doubt in his mind about leaving Georgia, It’s refreshing to hear a quarterback as good as him choose loyalty over wealth in the transfer portal.
