Urban Klavzar was the X-factor in Florida’s win over Kentucky

The Kentucky Wildcats fell to 17-8 on the season after they couldn’t climb back from an early double-digit deficit against the Florida Gators, ultimately falling 92-83.

The Wildcats followed their game plan for the majority of the game, but one thing they failed to do throughout was stop the Gators’ sixth man, Urban Klavzar.

A lot of the Gators’ squad was pretty close to their output in the win, but Klavzar ended up being the X-factor on Saturday in Gainesville. The junior from Slovenia ended the game with a career high in points (19) and shots made (seven).

Klavzar, who usually averages roughly 10 points a game, was left wide-open way too many times on Saturday. A 34% shooter from behind the arc, Klavzar really sealed the game for the Gators as he had 14 points and four 3-pointers in the second-half.

Just poor defense and not stepping up on Klavzar really cost the Wildcats in the back half of the game. Xavian Lee and Klavzar went a combined 9-18 from deep, and the Cats just had no answer on the defensive end.

Mark Pope was asked about the defense played on Lee and Klavzar. “I probably made a mistake on the matchups. I should’ve rethought that a little bit.”
