Lash Legend may dominate inside a WWE ring, but when it came to Trick Williams’ proposal, she admits she was completely outplayed.
During a recent interview with Unlikely, the WWE star opened up about her engagement to Trick and made one thing crystal clear — despite having suspicions, she did not actually know when the proposal was happening. When asked directly if she saw it coming, Lash explained that Trick intentionally threw her off.
“Okay, so the answer to that — I did not technically know. I had suspicions and tricky Trick tricked me. Isn’t that so fitting? He made it seem like it was going to be at a different time.”
Lash revealed that she usually plans their leisure trips outside of wrestling. So when Trick suddenly insisted on planning a December getaway himself, her instincts kicked in.
“Anytime we plan trips that’s outside of wrestling and just, you know, leisure, having fun, I plan it. I plan it and he pay for it. That’s just how we do it. And last year in December, he wanted to plan something. And I’m like, you planning what? He was like, ‘Don’t plan this trip.’ So my eyebrows was raising. I’m like, maybe this is when he’s doing it here.”
That December trip turned out to be a decoy. The real proposal happened at Thanksgiving, when the couple hosted both sides of their family. Lash explained that they have a tradition where everyone shares what they’re thankful for before eating, and emotions started running high.
“For Thanksgiving, we always — before we eat and bless the food — we always say what we’re thankful for. And so all of us were together, both sides of our family. And I’m like, you know, I want us all to say what we’re thankful for.”
As family members spoke, Lash said she became emotional and believed Trick stepped away to grab tissues.
“We all got pretty emotional. And he was next to me. I’m thinking he ran to the room to get me some tissues ‘cause I ain’t gonna lie, I was a little sniffly, teary-eyed.”
Instead, he returned with the ring — even though that moment wasn’t part of his original plan. Lash said she is thankful the proposal unfolded the way it did, describing it as emotional and special.
“He came back and he actually had the ring. And he wasn’t planning on doing it in that moment. He wanted to do it karaoke style. We was going to do karaoke night that night and he was going to do it karaoke.”
“I’m grateful the way that it happened because we all just had an amazing, gracious moment and it was so special and I’m glad it worked out the way it did.”
She also revealed that Trick customized the ring himself without even knowing her exact size, using one of her existing rings to get it measured.
“He customized a beautiful ring. He didn’t even have my ring size. But he’s smart. What he did was he took one of my other rings that I usually wear — like a class ring — and he took it to the jeweler and they sized it that way. And yeah, he customized it himself. So he did so, so good.”
With WrestleMania 42 season approaching and both Lash Legend and Trick Williams gaining momentum on the WWE main roster, the couple is stepping into a major year personally and professionally — and it all started with a proposal she says she truly did not see coming.
