Where Wisconsin ranks in bracketology after Michigan State win

Wisconsin basketball is up to a No. 7 seed in CBS Sports’ latest NCAA Tournament bracketology update.

The Badgers are fresh off their third top-10 win of the season, this one a blowout triumph over No. 10 Michigan State. The team is 18-7 (10-4 Big Ten) on the season and KenPom’s No. 32-ranked team in the sport.

Wisconsin’s recent stretch of success, which includes nine wins in 11 games, has cemented its position in NCAA Tournament bracket projections. That form is a major improvement over how the team started the season; it mostly struggled through nonconference play, and entered January squarely on the tournament bubble.

The Badgers were as low as a No. 9 seed at the start of February. Wins over No. 2 Illinois and No. 10 Michigan State served as the resume-boosting results that led to their rise up to the No. 7-seed line.

Wisconsin continues with a road matchup at Ohio State on Tuesday. It then concludes its regular season with contests against Iowa, Oregon, Washington, Maryland and No. 13 Purdue. Further winning should boost the team’s standing even further. Either way, the Badgers are a team that high seeds will want to avoid when the brackets are revealed.
