LSU women’s basketball lost its only game of the week. It fell to South Carolina 79-72 Saturday inside the PMAC. The Tigers are now 8-4 in SEC play with four games remaining on the conference slate.
Following the loss to the Gamecocks, LSU ranks fifth in the SEC standings. South Carolina remains alone atop the standings with an 11-1 record. Head coach Dawn Staley’s team is on a six-game win streak.

Sunday was an eventful day within the SEC. Texas beat Tennessee on Sunday, and the Longhorns now sit alone in third place, one game ahead of the Volunteers. In a shocking upset, Georgia downed Vanderbilt. The Commodores still sit second in the SEC, but Vandy is 10-3 on the year and has little chance at the regular season conference title now.
Georgia moves to 6-6 in the SEC and 20-6 on the year with the win.
LSU heads to Oxford on Thursday to face Ole Miss in another ranked matchup. The Rebels are sixth in the SEC at 7-4, right behind the Tigers. The Tigers head back to Baton Rouge for an afternoon tipoff against Missouri on Sunday.
