Jorge Masvidal challenges Nate Diaz: ‘I would love to smash him’

by

It looks like the rivalry between MMA stars Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz is far from over.

The two former UFC title challengers have fought twice in their career – once in MMA under the UFC banner for the innagural “Baddest Mother F*cker” title and the other in boxing, which stands as their most recent meet. Masvidal won by TKO stoppage in their MMA bout, and Diaz won by decision in their boxing fight, putting the score even at 1-1. Masvidal is not happy with the scoring of his boxing loss to Diaz in 2024, and would like to run things back with the 209 native.

“I think between men, he knows it’s 2-0 all the way,” Masvidal told MMA Junkie Radio. “Ain’t no way that fight in California I lost. The only reason why I lost it is because we see how corrupt California is. Gavin Newsome and all those motherf*ckers. I straight up won that motherf*cking fight. I staright up won that fight. I thre more shots, he never rocked me. I just put my hands up, I let him throw and then, ‘Bam,’ I rocked his world. I thinking this is a fight, but I guess not in California. I got nothing personal agaisnt Nate. I have a lot of admiration for what he’s done in his caree, but when we’re in there fighting, I feel way better in all aspects of fighting. I would love to smash him, man.”

Since they have fought in different realms of combat sports, Masvidal suggest they keep mixing it up.

“Muay Thai,” Masvidal said when asked in what discipline he’d like the Diaz trilogy. “We did MMA, we did boxing, so let’s do full f*cking Muay Thai. And then after that, we can do a jui-jitsu match. But let’s do Muay Thai. I know you won’t wanna do that.”

As far as what’s next for Masvidal, “Gamebred” says he’s competing this year, and he’s got the UFC’s permission, since he’s still under contract with the Las Vegas-based promotion, to fight in boxing once again.

“We’re back on this year,” Masvidal said. “We’re live, lock and loaded. The ink is drying up as we speak. Permission from the UFC got set and they said, ‘Yeah, everything is good. Go get this money.’ I can’t say what the promotion is because they will be doing the honors, but we got some big news coming. It’s definitely inthe world of fisticufst.”
