Gable Steveson is taking a big step in his young MMA career, and he looks to be in full confidence.
The Olympic gold medalist in wrestling faced off against Hugo Lezama ahead of their heavyweight main event bout at Mexico Fight League 3, which takes place Thursday at ShowCenter in Monterrey, Mexico. Steveson (2-0), despite being far less experienced, sized up and took no steps back in his staredown with Lezama (11-3).

Steveson is considered the biggest heavyweight prospect in MMA. A two-time Dan Hodge Trophy winner and two-time NCAA Division-I wrestling champion at Minnesota, he made his pro MMA debut this past September and knocked out Braden Peterson at LFA 217 in 98 seconds.
He took a quick bout at Dirty Boxing Championship 4 in October and put away Billy Swanson in 15 seconds. At Anthony Pettis FC 21 in November, he knocked out Kevin Hein in 24 seconds. The bout against Lezama marks Steveson’s third MMA fight in just five months.
