Michigan football eyes Notre Dame’s Dave Peloquin as new GM

by

Kyle Whittingham made a bold move to oust Michigan football general manager Sean Magee on Tuesday, after the two-time Wolverines behind-the-scenes ‘executive’ managed to help him keep the roster together. But, a difference in vision is a difference in vision.

And now the reset.

According to FootballScoop, the Wolverines appear set to be hiring former Notre Dame staffer Dave Peloquin to fill Magee’s role and lead the maize and blue deeper into the NIL era.

Dave Peloquin had a top, off-the-field role for virtually every Notre Dame football coach this century. (…)

And after spending the past year heading up the collegiate Name, Image and Likeness division for powerhouse agency Athletes First, Peloquin is on the verge of a return to college football.

In one of the sport’s flagship programs, no less.

Multiple sources tell FootballScoop Wednesday that Peloquin is being targeted in the University of Michigan’s search for a new general manager.

Peloquin has ties to multiple current Wolverines coaches including Larry Black, Tony Alford, and Tyler Stockton. He’s worked as a director of player personnel in South Bend at one point in time. He left Notre Dame last June to join Athletes First. Here’s more from Fighting Irish Wire:

Dave Peloquin, who has had a role in Notre Dame football since head coach Bob Davies tenure, is leaving the program to take a role with Athletes First as reported by John Brice of FootballScoop.

While his work recently hasn’t been specifically with the on-field portion of the football team, he was still part of the university’s Name, Image, and Likeness department as the assistant athletic director for football strategic initiatives reported Eric Hanson in April of 2023.

We’ll update the story as it continues to develop.
