Rory McIlroy to revisit Augusta after Genesis Invitational

by

Rory McIlroy has serious ambitions for the rest of the season, and the Northern Irish golfer hopes that the Genesis Invitational will be a much better experience than Pebble Beach.

The Northern Irish golfer played at Pebble Beach last week defending his title, but ultimately finished five strokes behind leader Collin Morikawa.

The next step for Rory McIlroy will be a trip to Augusta National, and a favorable return to the place that brings back such fond memories will certainly be important for him.

Rory McIlroy will have a round with his father Gerry and Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley.

Rory pointed out that he used to come to Augusta for promotional work, but now he is there for other reasons and emphasizes that he is proud to see his name in the locker room.

The Masters is probably the tournament that brings back the fondest memories of his career and that is why he enjoys coming to this course.

"I'm going to go up there and play with the chairman next week actually," he said.

"It wasn't even a round. I was doing some filming up there.

It was cool to get up to the champions locker room and see my nameplate alongside the other two champions that I share a locker with. It was somewhat nostalgic.

I wouldn't say it was emotional but definitely there was nice memories; different feels the first time staying on site without having to need a member there."

Rory McIlroy learns about his game

According to the experienced golfer, he is still trying to learn about his game and strives to improve, despite completing the Career Grand Slam and making serious achievements in the world of golf.

Rory still has strong ambitions, knowing that he has a good chance of making a positive result at the Genesis Invitational, a tournament hosted by Tiger Woods.

It will be really interesting to see how much the 36-year-old can do in this tournament and whether he will really be a significant figure. The biggest threat will be Scottie Scheffler, but the previous tournament showed that there is always a name that can make a breakthrough and fight for the trophy.
