A Decade In The Making: The 2026 Toulon Collection

by

2026 is a milestone year for Toulon Golf for a couple of reasons. First of all, the 2026 putter collection is their third complete line of putters since the Toulon band got back together in 2024.

Second, if we go back to the 2016 inception date for Toulon Golf, this year marks the 10th anniversary of their existence as a putter company.

Obviously, there were a few years there when Sean Toulon was distracted with that whole “Odyssey executive” thing but Toulon Golf never went away. It started as an independent company, merged with Odyssey for a while and then went back to being independent.

Throughout the decade, the Toulon mission has stayed the same. They want to make the best milled putters. They readily admit that some of their first designs fell a little short of that goal. However, what you will see today with the 2026 Toulon Collection demonstrates that they never stopped refining their designs.

Not to spoil the ending but Team Toulon’s current putters are as high quality as any other company. In fact, they are nicer than the premium putters produced by the majority of other putter makers.

For the 2026 Collection, Toulon went with a good luck for the bride plan: something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

Quite a lot of blue, actually.

Exotic Midnight Blue finish

All of the 2026 Toulon Collection putters are finished with a Midnight Blue finish. Were I to describe the finish in a word, the word would be dynamic. Depending upon the light and the background, the blue finish shifts between a deep, almost black, blue hue to a lighter royal blue tone.

Most of today’s photos make the finish look very dark but look at how it compares to the Blackout Series Toulon Jailbird H1 from the summer before last.

With the black Jailbird as a reference, you can really see the blueness of the 2026 finish.

In addition to the ambient light, the shape of the head also influences the depth of the finish. Check out the photo a couple of paragraphs below comparing the Jailbird to the Jailbird Mini. The blue color looks different on the different heads.

The complexity of the finish jumps up another level when you compare the blades to the mallets. The mallets’ blue has a matte finish but the finish on the blades is glossy.

It’s a fun way to give something different to blade and mallet customers. The glossy finish really only works on the smaller blade heads. On something larger like an Alcatraz, the gloss would be blinding.

Return to Deep Diamond Milling

Toulon Golf is a fancy putter company. That’s in no way a dig against them. When you compare a Toulon putter to other putters, it’s easy to see that Toulon putters fall on the fancy end of the bell curve.

(Many of their Small Batch putters are made from the same steel as Rolex watches. That’s next-level fancy!)

It tracks that these premium putters should have diamonds on the face. According to the Swiss judge, diamonds bump the fancy score by at least 3.2 points!

The Deep Diamond Milling looks fancy but the pattern serves a purpose and ultimately speaks to Toulon’s market philosophy: fancy-looking putters that are intended to roll balls.

(Yes, even the Small Batch putters.)

The Deep Diamond face milling was an early design element for Toulon and, since its introduction, putters with these faces have earned 69 PGA Tour victories including two majors.

No, not all of those are Xander Schauffele’s victories (the majors are) but he is the most high-profile golfer to roll a Toulon putter to victory.

The pattern milled into the faces of the 2026 Toulon Collection is not the same one that debuted 10 years ago. Schauffele’s preferences are part of the story in the creation of the new version of the Deep Diamond Milling.

This version of the face has deeper grooves and horizontal lines that were not present in the first face. By working with golfers such as Schauffele, Toulon figured out ways to make their winning face even better.

Having rolled all of these putters and the previous Toulon Collection models, I’ll confirm that the feel and speed off the new DDM face are superb. While I love the feel of my currently in-the-bag 2025 Toulon Carlsbad H1, I do wonder how much better it would feel with the modern Deep Diamond Mill face.

Under-the-radar family business

Toulon Golf is a small family-run business. I feel this fact escapes the golfing public because Sean Toulon was once a giant in the golf industry, holding senior executive positions at TaylorMade and Callaway/Odyssey.

Sean Toulon was a big deal at big companies. Now he is just a guy building putters in his shop with his sons. Although the Toulon putter heads share DNA with the Odyssey designs that he worked on during his time there, the company structures are not even close to the same.

The Toulon Golf workshop would fit in the executive washroom at Callaway.

They are a family shop. If you call Toulon Golf, Sean’s son Preston will likely take the call. Either Sean, Preston or his other son Tony will build your putter. According to UPS tracking, Kathy Toulon, Sean’s wife, was the one that shipped me the putters. It doesn’t get more “family business” than that.

If you want to feel connected to the people who are making your putter, Toulon Golf is your company.

Is Sean Toulon the new Dude?

Interacting with the Toulon family reminds me of my interactions with master putter maker Byron Morgan who passed away a few years back. Byron was a phenomenal putter maker but also just a regular guy.

A few days after I placed an order for a custom 007 putter, my first custom putter ever, I received a call from Byron himself to talk about my build. Never in a million years did I expect to talk to the person who held the hammer. In the following years, I spoke with Byron multiple times about putters and I am eternally grateful for those chats with the man who fans affectionately called The Dude.

I’ve had multiple conversations with Sean Toulon and his sons over the years and the vibe is similar. This is not an organization that screens calls through complex “press 3 for sales” menus. If you call them, there’s a really good chance that a Toulon picks up the phone.

When you consider the Toulon professional resume, this access seems astounding and is unprecedented.

2026 Toulon Collection blade models

Let’s get to the putters. The 2026 collection includes 11 models. All are blue. Some are “new” and some are “old” returning favorites. A few of the shapes are “borrowed” from Toulon’s Odyssey collaboration period but all of them are Toulon creations.

We will start with the three blade models and then tackle the remaining eight mallet models.

Austin

The Toulon Austin is a delightful take on the Anser. Toulon spent a great deal of time creating a head where the edges just flow from one area to the next. If you run your finger along the surface of the putter, you’ll have a difficult time finding anything sharp to catch your finger on.

The glossy Midnight Blue finish makes the Austin look smoother than a buttered otter.

The prevalence of mallet putters in the 2026 Toulon Collection speaks to the mass migration of golfers from blades to mallets. I don’t know that we will ever see a swing back to blades. At some point, the classic Anser-style putters may fade into history like the 8802.

Thankfully, today is not that day but I will be sad if gorgeous putters like the Austin fade away into history.

Hollywood

The Toulon Hollywood is the putter that got me thinking about Byron Morgan. My favorite Byron Morgan model was the 006, a boxier Anser 2 style blade. I see so much 006 in the Hollywood. From the bumpers to the cavity, Byron would approve of this putter.

As with the Austin, I really wanted the Hollywood to be the putter in the 2026 Collection that worked for me. Unfortunately, I think a mallet will win my Best of Show.

The Toulon Hollywood features so many cool blade elements. The tri-sole helps you get the putter flat on the ground. The square body elements frame the ball at address. Chef’s kiss to that sight dot as well. The tapered heel enhances the address and the milling along the back edge just looks cool.

The Hollywood is a handsome hunk of metal.

Boston

Longneck putters like the new Toulon Boston could be the putters that save the “blade” category. When I was chatting with Preston Toulon, he suggested that longneck putters like the Toulon Boston could be perfect for golfers who tried with mallets but want to return to blades.

The long neck of the Toulon Boston gives it less toe hang than the Austin (30 degrees versus 45). The 30 degrees of toe hang places the Boston just past the 20-degree hang of the mallets with the H1/plumber’s neck.

Golfers who like the swing feel of the H1 mallet but want to look down at a blade could hit the sweet spot with the Boston.

I love longneck putters. How can you not? Just look at that amazing neck!

If I was going to force my stroke to fit a putter in the 2026 Toulon Collection, it would be this one. I have a whole collection of longneck putters in the garage. For a time, longnecks were my jam.

There is a Toulon putter in the collection that is a better fit for me but part of me wants to ignore all of that fitting nonsense and just game the Boston.

Mallet models

Mallet putters are all the rage these days. I saw a post somewhere last week showing that the top 10 PGA Tour players were playing mallets.

The big putter stigma no longer exists on Tour or at the local muni. Golfers understand that mallet putters, even those with unconventionally bulbous profiles, put balls in holes. If you are a data dude, just look at the cash earned by Scottie Scheffler pre- and post-mallet switch.

The 2026 Toulon Collection brings customers what they want. There are four mallet designs, each with two neck options. Some are the perennial favorites and one is a brand-new speedster.

Alcatraz

Full disclosure: when I was initially typing out the list of mallets, I called the Alcatraz the Jailbird. Although it lacks stripes, there is no hiding the relationship between the Toulon and Odyssey mallets.

The shapes are similar but the sum of their differences is significant enough to make them play like very different putters. The Deep Diamond Milled face feels different than any Odyssey insert recipe.

Then there is the lack of prison stripes.

Many will find the simplified alignment system of the Toulon Alcatraz more appealing behind the ball. If you want stripes with your milled face, nothing is preventing you from adding some white tape or paint.

Alcatraz H1

If you need a mallet with a little more toe hang, add the H1 neck to your Alcatraz. This is my preferred Alcatraz build as you likely guessed from the black versus blue Alcatraz H1 photograph above.

The Blackout Toulon Alcatraz H1 is always in my gamer discussions. After rolling the two models head to head, I was able to truly appreciate how good the Deep Diamond Milled face feels and performs.

Alcatraz Mini

I’m not going to say anything about Austin Powers when I discuss the Toulon Jailbird Mini. The movie is too old and nobody will understand what I am talking about when I say that it is exactly like the Alcatraz, just one-eighth its size.

(I will definitely not mention anything about humping lasers, either.)

Anyway, if you are somewhat noncommittal about making the mallet move, the Alcatraz Mini is a putter to explore. I prefer the feel and balance of the full-sized Alcatraz but that’s just me and may not match your preferences.

Maybe you’ll find the Mini to be magnificent.

The Alcatraz Mini feels a little crisper and nimbler than the full-sized Alcatraz. These characteristics, along with the smaller profile, have made the Alcatraz Mini one of Toulon’s most popular models.

Alcatraz Mini H1

Of all of the new mallets, the Toulon Alzatraz Mini H1 plays the most like a blade. It may have less toe hang than the Austin or Hollywood but it feels very similar when rolling balls.

If I had to suggest one mallet for a blade player to check out, it would be the Jailbird Mini H1. It has enough mallet mass to make it not a blade but it is still fun-sized when compared to the larger mallets.

Las Vegas H1

Buried in the middle of the pack today is the scoreboard slayer in the Toulon 2026 Collection. The Las Vegas H1 is the putter that Schauffele used to win the 2024 PGA Championship and the 2024 Open Championship.

He may have also used a similar putter to win a gold medal at the 2020 Olympics.

If you use Tour victories to validate the quality of a putter, the Toulon Las Vegas is fully validated.

Out of all of the new putters, the Las Vegas H1 is the one I’m calling the pick of the litter. It’s ridiculously easy to putt with. You don’t even really need to try hard and the putts go in.

Being that I’ve been playing a 2025 Toulon Carlsbad for a spell, it may just be the model that feels most familiar to me. Whatever the reason, the Toulon Las Vegas H1 drops balls in holes with monotonous regularity.

There is not a single element of my golf game that is on par with Schauffele’s but I can see how the hole just looks larger when using this putter. Obviously, once I put it in my bag, I will win a gold medal as well.

Las Vegas H7

If you like the Las Vegas look but you want it to hang just a little lower, go with the H7 neck. Moving from the H1 to the H7 neck changes the toe hang from 20 to 33 degrees. If you are thinking that 33 degrees is not a lot for a slant neck, you are right but the H7 is not really a traditional slantneck.

The H7 neck is a little longer than a normal slantneck. This length, combined with the neck’s overall shape and where it attaches to the head, reduces the toe hang.

The H7 version is the more attractive of the two Las Vegas models. The shape of the H7 hosel blends in better with the rounded top of the putter than the H1. Unfortunately, while the H7 fits my eye, the H1 neck fits my stroke.

Add this one to the growing list of putters whose looks make me want to force them work on the course.

Monaco H1

How did F1 become such a thing? Was the Netflix series solely responsible for people around the world deciding to wake up in the middle of the night to watch cars race on the other side of the planet?

I’m betting the popularity is just because of the squared-off jaw and otherworldly coordination of Max Verstappen.

Regardless, if Toulon was going to make another racecar-inspired mallet, Monaco is a fabulous name. Who doesn’t want to go to Monaco to play baccarat with James Bond and watch some cars go 200-plus mph?

Under the hood, the Monaco H1 is quite similar to the Las Vegas H1.

The Monaco doesn’t look like a traditional fang design but the fangs are there if you look for them. They are less overt because Toulon connected the aluminum wings at the rear, giving the Monaco continuous perimeter weighting.

The center of the head is where we really see the deviation from the Las Vegas. Unlike the Las Vegas where the center of the head is filled with empty space, the Monaco has an elevated alignment platform.

This platform allowed Toulon to run an extended sight line down the center of the putter. Naturally, this is not possible with the Las Vegas.

Surprisingly, the Monaco also feels like a blade when rolling balls. The explanation is in the build profile. If you look at the photos, you’ll see there is a radically different distribution of steel and aluminum between the two mallet models. With the Monaco, the weight sits more forward than it does with the Las Vegas.

I’m not saying it feels exactly like the Austin but they will likely fit similar players.

Monaco H4.5

Do you need your putter to hug the hairpin arcs in your stroke? If so, then you’ll want to opt for the 45-degree hanging H4.5 neck on your Monaco.

This version combines the toe hang of a blade with the enhanced alignment elements of a mallet. Use that giant line and T-shaped central region to aim the Monaco right at your target.

I spent a good portion of my time on the green comparing the Monaco to the Las Vegas models. Ultimately, I see these two models as having separate fan bases. Lewis Hamilton fans are probably mad I mentioned Verstappen instead. Both drivers are amazing but fans like who they like. Monaco and Las Vegas players will have similar “who is the best” discussions.

Contextually, I would much rather watch a F1 race in Monaco than in Las Vegas but if I’m on the green with hands on the stick, I’m driving the Las Vegas.

Congratulations on a decade of retirements

Some people are good at retiring. Other people, like Sean Toulon, not so much. During his career, Toulon delivered all kinds of cool club designs, many of which made the jump from new idea to industry standard.

Dude has done enough work to justify spending his remaining days on a boat sailing into sunsets around the world.

Instead, he seems to stop working for about an hour when he “retires” and then heads right back to the shop to work on new projects.

The context of his continued labors provides some insight into why this is the case for Toulon.

First and foremost, he’s no longer working for a big company. He has his own company with his family. When he shows up to work, he gets to spend the day with the people that he loves, doing what he loves.

The new 2026 Toulon Collection deftly demonstrates that the Toulon crew work well together. The quality of these putters is amazing, from the milling to the new Midnight Blue finish.

It’s also impressive that a small shop can roll out 11 different models. Some of them are the same head with different necks but since these are 100-percent milled, every new neck requires a whole new milling plan.

I don’t think these putters are the only ones that Toulon will be rolling out in 2026. Noticeably absent in the group are any zero-torque Formula models, a market space where Toulon had a couple of releases in 2025.

Bottom line: the Toulon Acres Retirement Home truly is a place for active seniors.
