Walker Eget is eligible to play for Duke football in 2026.
The quarterback was granted an additional year of eligibility by the NCAA on Thursday, Feb. 19. ESPN’s Pete Thamel was first to report the news.
Eget transferred to Duke in January after spending five seasons at San Jose State. He threw for 3,051 yards and 17 touchdowns during the 2025 season, where the Spartans went 3-9. He rushed for an additional 96 yards.

Across his two years as a starter, Eget threw for 5,555 yards and 30 touchdowns. He tore his ACL in October 2024, later undergoing surgery to repair it. The former three-star prospect out of Santa Clara, California graded out at 84.7 per Pro Football Focus in 2024 and 67.5 in 2025.
Eget fills a hole at quarterback for the Blue Devils after the departure of Darian Mensah to Miami. Duke sued Mensah after he entered the portal on the final day of its two-week open window, with the parties reaching a settlement one week later. Wide receiver Cooper Barkate also followed Mensah to Miami.
Duke has three other scholarship players in its quarterback room: North Alabama transfer Ari Patu, redshirt freshman Dan Mahan and freshman Terry Walker III. Out of the three, Patu is the only to have taken a real-game snap.
The Blue Devils open the 2026 season at home vs. Tulane on Sept. 5.
