WWE’s latest trademark mystery didn’t take long to unravel. After filing paperwork for multiple new ring names with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, WWE has now connected one of those identities to a real talent — and it’s not who many fans initially expected.
According to an update from Bodyslam.net, Mike Derudder, formerly known on the independent wrestling scene as Mike D Vecchio, will now compete under the name Dorian Van Dux.
That confirmation shifts the focus squarely onto the new identity, which WWE quietly trademarked on February 18 alongside Tristan Angels. While Tristan Angels was quickly linked to Nathaniel Cranton, Dorian Van Dux remained a mystery — until now.
Derudder was part of WWE NXT’s broader international signing class in late 2025. That group included Cyril Coquerelle, who debuted on NXT television as Elio LeFleur, as well as Jaime Garcia (Zozaya) and Dusan Novakovic. Since arriving in WWE, Derudder had yet to receive a publicly established ring name — making this trademark filing particularly significant.
As is standard practice, WWE filed Dorian Van Dux under its typical entertainment services description, covering live wrestling exhibitions, broadcast appearances, online content, fan club services, and sports entertainment media. The move signals the name isn’t just reserved — it’s intended for active use.
With Tristan Angels already rolling out on social media and now Dorian Van Dux tied directly to Mike Derudder, WWE’s current wave of trademark activity appears less speculative and more strategic. The company is clearly refining identities for its next generation of talent as they transition into more visible NXT roles.
Now that Dorian Van Dux has a confirmed face behind the name, the only question is how and when WWE plans to formally introduce the character on television.
What do you think of the name Dorian Van Dux for Mike D Vecchio? Does it fit his style, or would you have preferred he keep his previous identity? Drop your thoughts below and let us know.
