North Carolina controlled Syracuse (15-12, 6-8 ACC) throughout most of the February 2 matchup in Chapel Hill, but watched a 32-point lead dwindle down to six. The Tar Heels hung on to win, 87-77, extending their then-winning streak to four.
The Orange have a pair of impressive wins in their near-back pockets, beating Cal and SMU at home, but suffered an embarrassing loss at Duke last week.
