Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova may have subtly hinted that the American tennis icon is preparing to play Wimbledon.
On February 22, which is Sunday, the American tennis legend's mandatory six-month ITIA doping-testing window ends and she will be eligible to once again sign up for tournaments. And just before the deadline, the former 23-time Grand Slam champion dropped an interesting comment on an Instagram selfie.
"I’m getting ready for a Serena summer," Williams wrote.
In the comment section of the post, Sharapova asked the American tennis icon: "Wimbledon?"

Does Sharapova know something about Williams we don't?
Last August, the 38-year-old entered the Tennis Hall of Fame. But what made headlines that day was the American introducing the Russian tennis icon into the former five-time Grand Slam champion's Hall of Fame induction.
It is not a secret that Sharapova and Williams were all but friends during their playing days. However, in the last couple of years, the two started speaking and they actually now have a good relationship. In one of her interviews after introducing her former rival into the HoF, the American admitted that the Russian's HoF plans were secret she kept for months.
Later, the Russian said that she and the American went "a full-circle moment."
“That was a full-circle moment. It started when I was a young girl watching her play with Venus, and just being so inspired by their strength and how amazing they were at their craft. Then facing Serena for so many years and now having her accepting and inducting me into the Hall of Fame," the former world No. 1 said two weeks after being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Considering the relationship that Sharapova and Williams have now, the Russian may be easily familiar with the American's comeback plans – if there are any.
