San Diego State Claims Mountain West Conference Title

The San Diego State women’s swimming and diving team used its depth and diving to win the Mountain West Championships on Saturday, Feb. 21. It is the program’s fifth conference title in a row.

The Aztecs won with 1,367.5 points, followed by Washington State (1,102.5), UNLV (1,083), Fresno State (913), Nevada (861.5), Air Force (811.5), Wyoming (719), Colorado State (695.5), San Jose State (559), Grand Canyon (488.5) and New Mexico (279).

San Diego State won the team diving event with a 307.35 combined score.

Isabella Gomez won platform diving with a score of 306.90. Diving was big for SDSU, landing four in the finals.

SDSU’s Kaydence Bispo, Allison Mann, Melanie Quinto and Alyssa Schiller took second in the 400 free relay (3:16.26).

Washington State’s Emily Lundgren won the 200 IM in 1:57.94, holding off UNLV’s Grace Wharton (1:58.04).

Lundgren teamed with Anna Rauchholz, Ashlyn Hernandez and Darcy Revitt to win the 400 medley relay in 3;32.64.

Revitt won the 50 free in 21.84, ahead of San Diego State’s Kaydence Bispo and Washington State teammate Barbora Mileisyte, who tied for second in 22.43. Revitt also won the 100 free in 47.79.

Washington State’s Revitt, Mileistyte, Issabelle Parrish and Addy Lewis won the 200 free relay in a DI cut of 1:28.52. San Diego State also hit a B cut with a 1:28.74.

Rauchholz, Lundgren, Lewis and Revitt won the 200 medley relay in a B cut time of 1:36.40. Mileistye, Parrish, Lundgren and Revitt won the 400 free relay in 3:15.72.

Fresno State’s Mackenzie Lung won the 100 breaststroke in a meet-record 58.17, holding off All-American Lundgren (59.42). Lung also won the 200 breast in 2:07.03 in a meet record, once again holding off Lundgren (2:07.04).

UNLV junior Ava Olson won the 500 freestyle in 4:43.08, holding off Nevada’s Huska Batbayar (4:43.15). Both swims are NCAA provisional cuts.

UNLV’s Rachel Wigginton won the 200 fly in a B cut time of 1:57.08.

Nevada’s Scarlet Ferris won the 100 butterfly in a conference-record 51.34. Moji Pholjamjumrus won the 400 IM in an NCAA B cut time of 4:11.07. UNLV’s Grace Wharton took second in a B cut of 4:12.10, while Colorado State’s Erin Dawson was third in 4:12.324, also a B cut.

Nevada’s Bailey Heydra won 3-meter diving with a score of 377.00. Ferris won the 100 backstroke in a Mountain West record of 51.07, leading four B cut swimmer with Colorado State’s Tess Whineray (51.73), Rauchholz (52.17) and SDSU’s Abby Storm (52.25). Whineray won the 200 back in conference record 1:52.82.

Wyoming junior Tara Joyce won the 200 free in a meet-record 1:44.43. Alicia Gonzalez won 1-meter diving with a score of 333.75.

Wyoming’s Raiden Harris, Avery True, Macey Hansen and Joyce won the 800 free relay in 7:10.00. Hansen won the 1650 free (16:16.41).
