Sevier County junior tight end and linebacker Parker Newman has received an offer from Ohio State football.
Newman, a second team All-PrepXtra selection in 2025, announced the offer on social media on Feb. 24.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pound Newman doesn’t have a star rating on 247Sports, but lists 22 offers on his X page. He’s picked up 17 of them since his junior season ended, including Cincinnati, Colorado, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Penn State, SMU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
Newman was named the Region 1-5A Athlete of the Year in 2025, catching 78 passes for 1,059 yards and 10 touchdowns in addition to 117 tackles, three sacks, eight pass breakups and four interceptions on defense. He helped the Smoky Bears go 13-2 and reach the Class 5A state championship game, though they were unable to defend their title from a year ago, falling to Page 21-14.
Newman’s quarterback, Cooper Newman (no relation), was Class 5A Mr. Football and the PrepXtra Offensive Player of the Year in 2025. Cooper Newman, who threw for 3,705 yards and 45 touchdowns as a junior last season, has 14 offers, including Georgia Tech, Maryland, Michigan State, North Carolina, Northwestern and Virginia Tech.
