Emma Raducanu is in no rush to find a new coach as the world No. 25 is happy with what Alexis Canter brings to the table.
Following a slow start to the year and being ousted by Anastasia Potapova in the Australian Open second round, Raducanu didn't sound happy with her form but also with the way she was being asked to play. A few days later, coach Francisco Roig paid the price.
After sacking Rafael Nadal's former long-time coach Roig, Raducanu turned to ex-British tennis player Canter to assist her. It was an instant success as the Briton went on to make the Cluj-Napoca final – her first final of any sort since the 2021 US Open. Unfortunately for the 23-year-old, she ended up losing to Sorana Cirstea after struggling with a virus.
Raducanu also struggled with a virus in Doha and Dubai, losing in the first round.
On Tuesday, UNIQLO announced Raducanu as their newest ambassador. Speaking with the media, Raducanu shared that she was not actively looking for a coach – noted that she was happy with Canter's work – and also revealed that she was targeting to develop a more aggressive style on the court.
Raducanu: Not actively looking for a coach… It's going well with Canter
"Right now I wouldn’t say I’m actively looking for a coach. I think I had a great experience with Francis in terms of how we got on so well… The rapport was great. I think in the end, we just weren’t aligning on certain key aspects. But we still maintain a really good relationship," the world No. 25 explained.
"Right now I have Alexis in my corner. He knows me as a person. He knows me as a player. And I’ve actually had some success with him in the past year in Washington [making the semi-finals] and Cluj… So it’s going well.
"I know the drills that I need to be doing right now in this moment in time…just repetition of doing those key fundamentals. I think I want to go back to that and [develop] a more aggressive style of playing."
When the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells starts on March 4, Raducanu will make her sixth appearance at the tournament.
Raducanu's best result in the desert is a round-of-16 showing from 2023.
