Emma Raducanu reunites with ex-coach days after saying she wasn't looking for one

Emma Raducanu has made a coaching addition just days after insisting that she wasn’t actively looking for a coach, as Mark Petchey is set to return to the Briton’s team on an ad hac basis again, via The Times

After having an unsuccessful two-week trial period with coach Vladimir Platenik in Indian Wells, the 2021 US Open champion brought in Petchey. It resulted in immediate success as the 23-year-old made her maiden WTA 1000 quarterfinal in Miami. They worked until the end of the grass season.

Following their split, Raducanu added Francisco Roig to her team. They worked for six months before going their separate ways after the Australian Open.

Now, Raducanu is bringing back a familiar face to her team for the Sunshine Double in Indian Wells and Miami.

What Raducanu said about her coaching situation earlier this week?

After splitting with Roig, the 23-year-old was assisted by former British player Alexis Canter in Cluj-Napoca, where she made her first final since the 2021 US Open.

At the start of this week, Raducanu was announced as the newest UNIQLO ambassador. The former world No. 10 spoke with the media following the announcement – and when asked if she was looking for a coach – she said that wasn’t the case as she was happy with Canter.

“Right now I wouldn’t say I’m actively looking for a coach. I think I had a great experience with Francis in terms of how we got on so well… The rapport was great. I think in the end, we just weren’t aligning on certain key aspects. But we still maintain a really good relationship," the world No. 25 said at the start of the week.

"Right now I have Alexis in my corner. He knows me as a person. He knows me as a player. And I’ve actually had some success with him in the past year in Washington [making the semi-finals] and Cluj… So it’s going well.”
