Notre Dame women’s basketball two-time All-American guard Hannah Hidalgo is now a three-time gold medalist. And former Notre Dame guard Olivia Miles is a two-time FIBA gold medalist.
On Sunday, Hidalgo scored 16 points, including two free throws with eight seconds to play to lead the United States National team past Brazil, 92-84, in the gold medal game of the 2025 FIBA Women’s Americup in Santiago, Chile. Miles had a game-high nine assists to go with eight points.

The USA squad went 7-0 over nine days to win the event for the fifth time. Mikayla Blakes (Vanderbilt) led USA with 27 points.

Blakes was named the tournament MVP and was part of the tournament’s All-Star 5, which included Hidalgo, Brazilians Kamilla Cardoso and Damiris Dantas along with Canada’s Syla Swords.
Hidalgo also had seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. She went 8-of-9 from the free-throw line.

Going into Sunday’s final, the Irish junior had averaged 11.8 points and 4.4 assists per game. She also had a tournament-best 20 steals. Hidalgo’s top performance came against Canada when she scored 19 points to go with four assists and four steals.
Across the tournament, Miles averaged 7.1 assists, 6.9 points, and 5.3 rebounds per game.
Hidalgo also led USA to victory in the 2023 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup and captured gold in the 2022 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup. Miles also captured gold in 2019 on the U16 Women’s National team.
After last season, Miles, a two-time All-American at Notre Dame, transferred to TCU.
