World Cup gold medallist Ajay Scott is set to shoot at the Rhine-Rühr 2025 FISU World University Games later this month, representing Great Britain in the compound men’s discipline.
Scott won his first international title at the second stage of the 2025 Hyundai Archery World Cup in Antalya in May, claiming mixed team gold alongside world number two Ella Gibson.
He is currently the only British male archer to have competed at all three World Cup stages this season – and now ranks as the country’s top compound man.
“I‘m really excited to be going to the World University Games as it’s my first multisport event as an athlete, and I’m really proud I get to represent my university [University of Kent] and my country,” said the 21-year-old, who recently attended a training camp in Korea.
“It’s also one of the biggest sporting events, so I think it’ll be a great experience to be in that Olympic-style atmosphere.”
Scott said he was especially proud to be part of Great Britain’s first University Games archery squad since 2019.
“I know we are a strong team, and we’ll be there to show everyone what we can do,” he added.
The team includes both recurve and compound archers, with Scott joined in the compound men’s category by Finlay Clark, a gold medallist at the 2023 European Youth Cup in Sion, Switzerland.
Archery GB is sending an eight-athlete squad to the event, which runs from 22-26 July in Rhine-Rühr, Germany.
