Following an official announcement Tuesday afternoon, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Florida State Seminoles will not only meet on the gridiron this upcoming fall, but also on the hardwood as well.

Yes, only weeks after the Crimson Tide and Seminoles meet in Tallahassee to open the college football season, both of Alabama and Florida State will reportedly play in men’s and women’s basketball prior to the start of the 2025-26 campaign. Both games will be played from Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham, Alabama on Thursday, Oct. 16.

Alabama men’s basketball also played a preseason exhibition game a year ago in Boutwell Auditorium in which the Crimson Tide defeated Wake Forest by a final score of 98-77.

A team that should provide a test for the Crimson Tide, Florida State’s men’s team is coming off a season in which the Seminoles missed the NCAA Tournament at 17-15 overall, as well as 8-12 in ACC play. The former team for new Alabama transfer addition Taylor Bol Bowen, Florida State will also begin a new era in 2025-26 as Luke Loucks takes over for former head coach Leonard Hamilton.

Florida State’s women’s team finished last season at 24-9 overall, as well as 13-5 in ACC play, to make the NCAA Tournament as a six-seed.
