Roebers achieved the all-time high rating on June 8 after winning the following game against IM Dolgan Nyudleev with a decisive attack in an opposite-color bishops middlegame.
Only a handful of women have ever crossed 2900 on Chess.com. In addition to Roebers and Lagno, that list includes IM Alice Lee, IM Aleksandra Maltsevskaya, and IM Polina Shuvalova. As for the overall record, GM Hikaru Nakamura was the first player to break 3400, in 2024, and recently crossed it again in Titled Tuesday to hold the current record of 3416. Reached for comment, Roebers wrote back, “Very happy to hear I got the record! I enjoy playing blitz a lot currently and hope to break 3000 at some point.”

In 2022, Roebers played on board one for the Dutch women’s team in the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad and scored individual silver; she was again board one in the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad last year. Roebers was also the 2023 Dutch women’s champion and reached the number-one rank among girls under 18 in August of 2023. Last year, she sent waves through the chess world when she defeated the top two seeds, GM Hans Niemann and GM Mustafa Yilmaz, back-to-back in the Tata Steel Chess Challengers 2024. Roebers is currently number 82 on the FIDE women’s rating list.
