LSU football QB Garrett Nussmeier expects big things from duo of Oklahoma transfers

LSU football signed the top-ranked transfer portal class in the country ahead of the 2025 college football season. The group included two former Oklahoma pass catchers: Wide receiver Nic Anderson and tight end Bauer Sharp.

Sharp led Oklahoma in receiving yards in 2024 after the wide receiver room was decimated by injuries. He caught 42 passes for 324 yards and two scores.

Anderson was one of the injured receivers and missed most of 2024, but he was an impact player in 2023, catching 38 passes for 798 yards and 10 scores. Anderson averaged 21 yards per catch, making him one of the top deep threats in the SEC.

At SEC media days, Nussmeier was asked about what LSU is getting from the Oklahoma products.

“Yeah, I mean, both of those guys are unbelievable players. And so I’ll say for one, Bauer has kind of added another level of backbone to our offense and that type of mindset that he has, you know, he’s ready to take somebody’s face off and he can make plays and he’s electric with the ball in his hand,” Nussmeier said.

The addition of Sharp was critical after former LSU tight end Mason Taylor declared for the NFL Draft and Ka’Morreun Pimpton entered the transfer portal.

On Anderson, Nussmeier said he “makes plays on the ball in the air that are unbelievable.”

“It’s just been about getting our chemistry down and the timing and getting on the same page of things. And, you know, that’s what the summer has been for and the spring ball. So very excited for Nick, looking forward to what he’s gonna be able to put out this year,” Nussmeier said.

Sharp and Anderson will both have chances to carve out significant roles in the LSU offense. Anderson was still working his way back from injury during spring practice, but he’ll have a chance to make up for that when fall camp gets underway.
