Dustin Poirier’s final MMA faceoff vs. Max Holloway

by

NEW ORLEANS – UFC 318 ceremonial weigh-ins were the scene of Dustin Poirier’s final pre-fight faceoff as he crossed paths with BMF champ Max Holloway one last time ahead of Saturday’s trilogy bout.

After a week of retrospective and celebration of his career, Poirier (30-9 MMA, 22-8 UFC) was showered with more positive energy as the Louisiana crowd backed him hard during the staredown with Holloway (26-8 MMA, 22-8 UFC) on Friday in advance of the main event clash at Smoothie King Center (ESPN+ pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+).

Holloway was not intimidated, however, as he stood up to Poirier in front of the hostile crowd. “Blessed” will need to overcome that element at UFC 318 in addition to trying to avenge a submission loss to Poirier at UFC 143 in February 2012 and a unanimous decision defeat in the rematch at UFC 236 in April 2019.
