Dustin Poirier vs. Max Holloway did not disappoint.
The rematch between Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway was everything people expected, and more.
Back in 2019, Poirier and Holloway met for a second time, this time headlining UFC 236 and competing for the UFC interim lightweight title. The two had previously met in a featherweight bout at UFC 143 in 2012, where Poirier defeated Holloway by submission, handing him a loss for his UFC debut.
In the rematch, the two went toe to toe for all five rounds. Poirier ended up winning a unanimous decision and taking the interim title. The bout also won Fight of the Night awards, alongside Israel Adesanya vs. Kelvin Gastelum in the co-main event of the card.

Poirier (30-9 MMA, 22-8 UFC) and Holloway (26-8 MMA, 22-8 UFC) meet a third time this Saturday in the main event of UFC 318 (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+), which takes place at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. The bout is set to be Poirier’s farewell from MMA, as he intends to retire from the sport after the fight.
