Former Iowa women’s basketball star announces engagement

by

While the WNBA celebrates its All-Star Game festivities this weekend, former Iowa women’s basketball legend and current Las Vegas Aces center Megan Gustafson announced her engagement to her partner, David DiLeo, in an emotional social media update Friday evening.

Gustafson, who starred with the Hawkeyes from 2015-19, is one of three former Iowa women’s basketball players to have their number retired in the rafters of Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Gustafson’s No. 10 is hung alongside Michelle Edwards’ No. 30 and Caitlin Clark’s No. 22.

On Wednesday, Gustafson visited the Hawkeyes during their summer practices in Iowa City, where she shared some wisdom and expertise with the team ahead of their 2025-26 campaign.

While the sixth-year professional has had an injury-plagued 2025 season with the Aces, having only played three games so far, her engagement will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of her year.

As for her play with Las Vegas, the Aces (11-11) return to action on Tuesday, July 27, when they host the Atlanta Dream (13-9) from Michelob ULTRA Arena. The game will begin at 9 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN.
