Alabama Crimson Tide legend Nick Saban retired from coaching after bringing six national titles to the trophy case in Tuscaloosa.

Greg McElroy reported that someone in the know believed Saban was not done coaching. However, Saban’s daughter, Kristen, set the record straight with a post on her Instagram story on Thursday.

What was ironic about the post was that she fueled the rumors by posting a video on her story of her father walking out of the tunnel at Bryant-Denny Stadium, and how much she misses it.

Saban’s replacement was former Washington Huskies head coach Kalen DeBoer, who led the team to a 9-4 record in his first season.

“Apparently some of y’all feel trolled by my last story of Nick’s walkout,” Saban said. “…He’s not coming back to coaching, hate to break it to you. You had your time.”

Since he is no longer at Alabama, Saban has appeared regularly on “College GameDay” as a crew member alongside Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and Pat McAfee.

Things have not been the same at Alabama since Saban left, and it was reflected in how DeBoer did in 2024. The last time the Crimson Tide had a nine-win season was in 1993 under Gene Stallings. Saban only had one season where he finished with under 10 wins, and that was in 2007, when he went 7-6.

While DeBoer is only in his second year with the program, he found himself on a list of the head coaches under the most pressure in 2025, coming in at No. 7.

Luckily, there is one thing that has not changed since Saban left, which is how feared Bryant-Denny Stadium is by opposing teams. Oklahoma Sooners head coach Brent Venables detailed how much he was not looking forward to facing Alabama there this season.

The Sooners beat the Crimson Tide 24-3 in Norman last season, but will now have to prove they can do it in Tuscaloosa.

While Saban’s daughter gave fans hope, it appears that the legendary football coach is not returning for the time being.
