Argentina’s u20’s side are officially the third best u20’s team in the world in 2025. Los Pumitas overcame France in the Bronze Final at the World Rugby u20 Championship in Italy. The 38-35 victory saw Argentina getting revenge on France after the Europeans comfortably overcame the South Americans in the group stage.
The result sees Los Pumitas of 2025 matching the 2016 side in claiming a podium finish. Meanwhile, for Les Bleuets, the result was inexcusable. France had been widely expected to win the Bronze Final. In fact, France won three consecutive tournaments before losing to England in the 2024 final.
Argentina’s victory came with a strong start. Prop Diego Correa touched down in the try zone from a pick-and-go. Les Bleuets recovered swiftly with Jon Echegaray scoring. France then had the better of play in the opening half.
From seemingly out of nowhere, Argentina fired back in the second half. Five tries, four from mauls, saw Argentina completing an upset victory.
