Kelsey Mitchell, Jackie Young to Start 2025 WNBA All-Star Game

by

Local heroine Kelsey Mitchell will jump into the WNBA All-Star Game’s starting lineup alongside Jackie Young of the Las Vegas Aces.

Injuries couldn’t fully flush the Indiana Fever out of the WNBA All-Star Game’s starting lineup.

With Caitlin Clark (Indiana) and Satou Sabally (Phoenix) each forced to sit due to injury, head coach Sandy Brondello (New York) has moved Kelsey Mitchell (Indiana) and Jackie Young (Las Vegas) into the starting lineup for Team Clark for Saturday night’s main event at Gainbridge Fieldhouse (8:30 p.m. ET, ABC).

Mitchell’s de facto promotion places two Indianapolis standouts in the starting five for the team, which is captained and curated by Clark, who will not take the floor due to a groin injury. Mitchell will be joined by Aliyah Boston, Clark’s first choice in the fantasy draft she staged against Napheesa Collier (Minnesota) on ESPN last week.

In the interest of getting all the Indiana reps on the same team, Clark made Mitchell her first pick when it was time to choose reserves. She’ll no doubt receive a sterling reception from those gathered at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where she has spent her entire career since entering the W as the second overall pick out of Ohio State in 2018. This season sees her placed second on the WNBA leaderboard in total points at the break (440) and she’s fifth in average at 19.1.

Young, on the other hand, is making her second showing in an All-Star Game’s starting five, previously repping the Aces when the 2022 main event in Chicago tipped off.  She’s currently averaging over 16 points per game, along with more than four assists and rebounds each, and ranks 10th in total made field goals with 125.

Joining Mitchell and Young will be the traditional starters, Boston, Friday’s 3-Point Contest champion Sabrina Ionescu (New York), and Young’s teammate and three-time MVP A’ja Wilson (Las Vegas).
