The Yankees agreed to a deal with the Rockies to acquire lefty-hitting third baseman Ryan McMahon on Friday afternoon, a source told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand. Neither club has confirmed the deal, which will send pitching prospects Griffin Herring and Josh Grosz to Colorado, according to Feinsand.

An All-Star last season, the 30-year-old McMahon has started a Major League-leading 100 games at the hot corner this season and is in the 91st percentile with 4 Outs Above Average.
Although his season stats aren’t overwhelming (16 homers, .717 OPS in 100 games), McMahon has been heating up for the past six weeks, hitting 10 home runs with an .820 OPS in 39 games since June 7. He is owed $16 million for each of the next two seasons, then is due to become a free agent.
