Joaquin Niemann shines with bogey-free 65 to lead LIV Golf UK

by

Joaquin Niemann was the dominant figure during the first day of LIV Golf UK by JCB. The Chilean golfer seems dominant from the start, with a bogey-free round, 6 under par (-6) and currently occupies the leading position, along with Adrian Meronk and Branden Grace.

Niemann made as many as six birdies and thus opened the way to victory.

Speaking to the media after the first day, the Chilean looked back on the brilliant performance, putting the accent on Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambea who are breathing behind him.

Niemann emphasizes that the two of them give him a strong motive, and there is no doubt that he will do everything to stay at the top.

"It depends on the way you look at it. I think it's fun. I think I'm on a really privileged situation to be on the top of the rankings and being chased by Jon and Bryson. It just makes me a better athlete.

I like that pressure. I like playing like that. I've just got to try my best.."- he said.

Niemann talks about the Open Championship experience

Niemann had a disappointing performance at the Open Championship, not making the cut.

Not long after that, the Chilean golfer made concrete moves, splitting up with his caddy.

Speaking about his performance at the last Major this season, Niemann pointed out that he had difficult moments during this tournament, but he believes that he can come back from this position.

"Yeah, I think even harder, obviously, is I didn't play the way I wanted. I feel like my putter was a little bit off for the first two days. But it's part of it, and it was tough, and then I was able to focus and kind of reset myself into the last three, four tournaments of the season, which I think is really important.

We're back at it.."- he said.
