The Yankees will be without their Captain to begin Saturday’s game, as Aaron Judge was not in the lineup against the Phillies and left-handed starter Ranger Suárez. Manager Aaron Boone said Judge has been dealing with “an elbow issue,” and the team is awaiting results of imaging tests.
Judge had been seen grimacing in pain after making a throw during Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays, though it’s not known if it was related to his elbow.
Judge went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly in Friday night’s 12-5 loss to Philadelphia. Combined with Toronto’s victory over the Tigers, the Yankees slipped to 5 1/2 games back in the American League East. New York is currently leading for the first AL Wild Card spot.
Judge, who won his second AL Most Valuable Player Award in 2024, is having another sensational season for the Yankees, leading the Majors in a wide variety of statistical categories. Judge has slashed .342/.449/.711 with 37 homers in 103 games in 2025.
