One of the Indiana Fever’s best virtues in 2024 was their ability to shoot the basketball. Inspired by Caitlin Clark, the Fever had the third-highest 3-point percentage in the WNBA last season — a key reason as to why, despite owning the league’s second-worst scoring defense, Indiana reached the postseason after an eight-year drought.
In 2025, the Fever have had to reset amid a coaching change and numerous injuries to Clark. Team defense has improved under new head coach Stephanie White, but Clark has missed half the season with groin and quadriceps injuries, and Indiana’s 14-12 record reflects the Fever’s struggle for consistency — even after winning the Commissioner’s Cup earlier this month.

The Fever could be one of the WNBA’s more active teams before the Aug. 7 trade deadline. ESPN’s Kevin Pelton thinks Indiana’s top executive Lin Dunn will be in position to swing a trade for Dallas Wings forward Myisha Hines-Allen, who has become an expendable player in Dallas amid the Wings’ youth movement.
Hines-Allen, a WNBA champion with the Washington Mystics in 2019, is a career 35 percent 3-point shooter, and even her 29.6 percent mark this season would rank fourth on the Fever. The 29-year-old’s versatility as a post player would boost Indiana’s options behind Aliyah Boston and Natasha Howard — though a recent right leg injury could give the Fever some pause.
Pelton predicts Indiana will trade center Damiris Dantas and a 2026 second-round draft pick to Dallas for Hines-Allen, a former All-WNBA second team selection who is no stranger to a midseason trade. She was dealt to Minnesota last summer and played throughout the Lynx’s run to the WNBA Finals.
