Former NBA All-Star Jeff Teague has never been a big fan of Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, and his latest take on the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year is drawing an especially sharp backlash.

Teague sounded off on Clark’s extended absence from the Fever while nursing a lingering right groin injury, saying he believes the team is better off without her.
“She’s good, but she’s not that good,” Teague said in an episode of his “Club 520 Podcast.”
Teague added that he believes Kelsey Mitchell is better and more important to the Fever than Clark.
“She’s the best player on the team,” he said.
Many fans pushed back on Teague, who was joined by brother Marquis Teague is sharing doubts about Clark’s contributions to the Fever. Several pointed out that the Fever have run through a stretch of easy opponents during Clark’s absence.

“Idiots. They are playing the terrible Aces and the Wings,” a fan shared in a post on X.
“Just clickbait. Fever only beat sub-.500 teams without Clark (except for Commissioner’s Cup who isn’t a regular season game),” another added.
Others questioned whether the Teague brothers were simply looking for engagement by sharing a controversial take on the WNBA’s most popular player.
“Honestly stuff like this shouldn’t be given any of our attention.. it’s likely that’s their goal to drive a frenzy from Caitlin die hard fans,” one fan wrote on X.

Teague has often expressed doubts about Clark, saying previously that he believes fellow WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu is much better than her.
