At present, it remains unclear as to whether there will be a WNBA team in the City of Boston after news that the Connecticut Sun have not been sold to the group led by former Boston Celtics minority owner Steve Pagliuca. But Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is ready to do whatever it might take to get the WNBA to the city she helps run, per recent reporting from MassLive’s Nick O’Malley.
Acknowledging that the WNBA will make the call for the Connecticut Sun as to whether it will relocate outside of the Nutmeg State, Wu related that “I think the city feels very much that we don’t have a WNBA team in the city of champions.”

“It would be really important for our young people and the mentorship and the excitement that that would provide,” noted the Boston Mayor. “So we are eagerly hoping that the process steps might go this way because this is something that Boston needs.”
