The Associated Press released its preseason Top 25 poll on Monday, and the Florida Gators will begin the 2025 season ranked No. 15 in the nation, the first time since 2021 that the Orange and Blue open the season ranked.
The ranking comes as Florida prepares to tackle one of the most challenging schedules in the country—a gauntlet that features national powerhouses Georgia, Texas and LSU, along with an SEC slate that offers little breathing room.

Head coach Billy Napier and his squad finished last season with four straight wins to close out the year, building momentum they hope to carry into the fall. With returning playmakers on both sides of the ball, as well as some new faces, the Gators will be looking to turn preseason respect into on-field results.
Gators quarterback DJ Lagway, now stepping into his sophomore season, has generated national buzz as one of the SEC’s most exciting young quarterbacks, combining a big arm with mobility and poise beyond his years.
If Lagway can stay healthy for the duration of the season, Florida has a shot to make some noise despite having a difficult schedule.
The Gators open their season on Aug. 30 as they take on Long Island University in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

SEC teams included in the AP Top 25 preseason poll
The SEC once again dominates the preseason rankings, with nine teams making the Top 25. Texas leads the way at No. 1, followed by Georgia at No. 5, Alabama at No. 8 and LSU at No. 9 to round out the top 10.
South Carolina comes in at No. 13, while Oklahoma (No. 18), Texas A&M (No. 19), Ole Miss (No. 21) and Tennessee (No. 24) also secured spots.
