It’s still August, which means it’s still National Dog Month, and if you thought Callaway was going to one-and-done it with the Chrome Tour Corgi edition, boy, were you wrong.
Sticking with the small dog theme, Callaway has just dropped (gently, of course) its Dachshund-themed golf balls.
Why Dachshunds?
Dachshunds are having a moment. They’re the yoga pants of the dog world—stretched out, surprisingly popular, and somehow acceptable in public despite looking absolutely ridiculous. Plus, there’s something poetic about playing a ball themed after a dog bred to go into holes.
Is There Any Performance Value Here?
You may find yourself asking if these balls will help you play better.
Maybe.
What if I told you the elongated silhouette of a Dachshund helps with alignment? Granted, I totally made that up, but that’s what you could go with if somebody asks you why you’re playing a ball that looks like it should come with mustard and relish.
That’s a wiener dog joke right there (admittedly not a particularly good one).

Not a Big Wiener (Dog) Guy?
Not a Dachshund fan? Don’t worry. August isn’t over yet, so we’ll probably see Chrome Tour Chihuahua by next Tuesday, followed by Chrome Tour Pomeranian. Hell, at this rate, we might even get a Chrome Tour Shih Tzu, because nothing says “performance golf” quite like a ball named after a dog that sounds like you’re cursing after your third chip shot into the water hazard.
The Long and Short of It
The Chrome Tour Small Dog Dachshund maintains all the tech specs of the regular Chrome Tour—same four-piece construction, same urethane cover, same promise to fix your slice. The only difference is now your ball looks like it’s been put through a medieval torture device before you even hit it.
Again, not that I’m suggesting you hit your dog.

The Bottom Line
I don’t know if you’re a dachshund fan or not. I’m largely indifferent, although a friend used to have one. She was a sweet enough dog.
Anyway, if you think Callaway’s latest round of dog balls is for you, I suggest you act quickly. The first Small Dog edition (Chrome Tour Corgi) sold out quickly and is, inexplicably, commanding ridiculous sums on eBay.
Then again, I suppose it makes sense. Purebreds are expensive AF.
Callaway Chrome Tour Small Dog Dachshund golf balls are available now.
